Carter Hargrave Karate or Hargrave Martial Arts Systems is located in Tulsa Oklahoma and is the private martial art academy established and ran by Professor Carter Hargrave.

Carter Hargrave school is not open to the general public in that all prospective students must send in an application with a few personal details, what their martial art goals is, and why they want to be a student at the private martial arts school. In the application student prospects are asked what style of the two systems taught at Hargrave Martial Arts they wish to learn.
The first style is American Combat Kempo Karate, the system that was founded by Carter Hargrave in 1992 and has been recognized by multiple international organizations as a new and distinct martial art. The art was developed to meet Hargrave's desires to have a martial art that would be simple to use under high stress circumstances, and one that would follow the student / practitioner well into old age or one with injuries and physical limitations. Carter Hargrave's goal was to have the art be so street specific that virtually anyone would be able to defend themselves after only six months of training. While the system is unique in many aspects it is simple but not easy. There are fewer moves count wise, but the fewer moves mean they must be practiced and perfected to achieve the desired results.
The other style that Carter Hargrave teaches is Jeet Kune Do the martial art system founded by the legendary martial artist and actor Bruce Lee. Hargrave is the President of the international organization World Jeet Kune Do Federation, and is the author of the best selling Original Jeet Kune Do Training Manual which goes into detail the moves of Jeet Kune Do.
Applicants must also understand that they will have a background check performed to week out the violent that may misuse the teachings of Carter Hargrave. Upon passing the background check you will be placed on a list according to how well you answered the questions, then contacted to come in for a class.
Carter Hargrave has taught martial arts for many years and now can pick and choose who he wants to teach, unlike those that run the standard commercial take anyone with a heartbeat schools also known as mcdojos. Hargrave now teaches very small personal classes and this format allows for smaller student teacher ratio and a more family like atmosphere. The application process usually weeds out the evil doers and a holes, although occasionally one slips through, but they don't last long for some reason :)
